A concert promoting Zbigniew Preissner's CD Silence, Night and
Dreams has been held at the Le Grand Rex cinema in Paris.

In addition to the pieces from the CD, the programme of the concert
included soundtracks for Krzysztof Kieślowski's films The Double
Life of Veronique
and the Three Colours trilogy. Poland's Elzbieta
Towarnicka and the star of the Portuguese fado Teresa Salgueiro
appeared as soloists.

Premiered in Athens last year, Silence, Night and Dreams has also
been performed in Poland and London's Barbican Hall. The CD
recording features the Aukso Chamber Orchestra of Katowice, the
Camerata Silesia Singers Ensemble and Teresa Salgueiro.

Fifty three year-old Zbigniew Preisner is regarded as one of the
world's most prominent composers of film music. He has written
soundtracks for over 80 films by such directors as Krzysztof
Kieslowski
, Agnieszka Holland and Louis Malle.

His CDs have sold over 2 million copies. After A Requiem for My
Friend, a tribute to Kieslowski, Silence, Night and Dreams is
Preisner's second non-film composition.

The British musicologist Nicholas Reyland of Keele University is
currently working on a book on Preisner's music for Kieslowski's
Three Colours trilogy. It is to be published by Scarecrow Press
